Nicola Formichetti as the stylist could style all the tons accessories very well contrast with oh-so-bold background so that it was literally eyes-satisfied. Hmm thinking to pull that as such an inspiration :) maybe i could do with Indonesia traditional accessories?

One of my favorite photographers are this duo Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott who has decided to work together under the name Mert & Marcus. I simply love their bold colour in such a strong theme. Very clean indeed. Superb. The secret behind their works lies in their perfectionism of the appereance.

My Little Joy Trip

when a "so so" performance could magically blown me away :)

Finally I have the chance to have my wanderlust satisfied. It’s Singapore, not for shopping or some getaway from Jakarta’s hectic traffic but to experience that rock n roll stellar performance of Oasis. Yes this Manchester band is coming to South East Asia for their 2009 Dig Out Your Soul Tour. Here are some of the highlights of my trip:

I stayed in Mrs Sara and Bayu Febriajie place ☺, had the chance to see baby Lula myself. The baby girl is so gorgeous; thanks to her bold bright eyes.

Before the concert, I strolled the city with Dyan and her lil sis, Dani. We had our chance to see the art installation exhibit in Esplanade. One that caught our attention is the piece that made by the Brazilian women artist. She made this wall covered by papers typed with her favorite quote completed by the old chair and an old typewriter in front of it. Very cute and such a well executed theme. One quote that won our hearts says:
“I don’t know which one is worse, knowing that I won't forget you or knowing that I will.” yeah guess my hearts scream the same :)

Yes, and the concert began. I stood in front of the stage, in front of Gem Archer himself. Oh God how I love him haha. And guess what, I found out that he always tidied up his hair after almost every song. He did that 6 times approximately for the whole show!! But he’s still gorgeous though. Wearing squared red white black shirt with skinny black pants. Resembled a truly British charmer. Even though for me it was not a good enough ending (Oasis chose ‘I am Walrus by The Beatles to close the night,). I basically love that song and I love the Beatles, but It’d more appreciated if they end it by their own song. Any song. But never mind, on top of all, I’M FULLY SATISFIED ☺ I’m fully thankful and thank God to be given a chance to see their stardom right before my eyes. So Oasis, checked! Coldplay, checked! The Cure, checked! Incubus, checked! Death Cab for Cutie and Daft Punk are some of my future shows to attend.

This is an exhibit of vans legendary slip on design meets boat shoe sperry-ish like. The result: Vans Vault Fall 2009 Del Barco Mid. And since it's Vans, the price would be reasonable. Oh what a shoe!

But wait up for quite a while because this amazing shoe will be released this year's FALL. WHAT? FALL? yes indeed :(

I just had a box of watercolor pencil along with brush and the sketch book as a gift from my dear friends for my birthday this year :)
They gave me those stuffs because they knew that i really want to learn how to draw. I'm quite an idiot in drawing, painting, sketching or else.

Then, i found this drop dead magnifique pieces of art from the young graphic designer called Nikki Farquharson, a London based artist. I think I'll start my drawing lesson by taking her projects as inspiration, but of course, i'll do it manually.

Ramen 38 Sanpachi: Little Japan in J Town

Take a quick jaunt off Jakarta to the little piece of Japan. Taste the authentic Ramen, a Japanese Noodle, in a small but compelling Ramen House called Ramen 38 Sanpachi.

The place which located in The second floor of Kamome, a Japanese Supermarket in Melawai, is secretly famous among Jakartans, especially South Jakartans who love Ramen at its best. The best thing about this place isn't only the food, but also the services and the place which apparently quite secluded.

For the services, everytime you order a dish, you'll get some complementaries such as free flow ice water and a konyaku jelly for the dessert. While for the place, this is totally like a mini Japan in town since, first, the size remind me of the traditional Ramen Joint in Japan. Next, the decorations are so authentic with Kanji printed red flag hanging in the front door just like what i witnessed in Tokyo Love Story, a Japanese hit tv series in the 90's. And the guest, most of them are Japanese.

Well for that fact, i want to share my personal tip. If you want to know whether a native restaurant serves an authentic food or not, you can tell from the guest. If a Japanese Restaurant is packed with the Japanese, then the taste is authentic. Because as an Indonesian, when i'm abroad, i'll only visit the Indonesian Restaurant which has the food taste enclose to the real deal. How can i eat an Indonesian food that taste like an Indian's, for example. So i believe that this thing also happen to everypeople in the world. They'll look up for the taste like home. hehe.

For the price, they're ranging from IDR 15.000 to IDR 48.000 for the food, and the drink is around IDR 5.000- IDR 20.000. But watch out for the service tax, because they charge 10% for it, with the addition of Governmental Tax, the total tax is 20 %. It'll quite blow your bill.. But believe me, with the big portion and the best flavor, it's all worth it!!

And if im not succesfully persuade you with how authentic this place is, when you're there, make sure you check the menu carefully, because you'll find some English spelling error. I bet you've heard that Japanese are famous for the amateurish english translation. Need proof, check this pic below.

Another gastronomy fiesta. The Craziest i've ever been. The Destination is called Tanah Abang and the dish is called Sate Africa. Too bad it's in Jakarta :(

It was Saturday, the second Saturday in the holy Ramadan, my team that day was Swasti and Fani. We were fully equipped with needs and wants and money of course. We jot down the places we wanted to go before the Sate Africa finally came out as the winner. Believe me it was madness. The place first of all, located in the heart of African Residence in Jakarta. The eatery is located beside the museum textile. The food is lamb grilled with onion and as the side dish, you can pick banana, yes banana, or rice. We chose both of them and they're both nice. The Price, save yourself about IDR 60.000 for the whole meal and drink.

Quickie Lunch

Need a quick lunch but surely has to be delicious at the same time. Then, head yourself to Ranch Market in The Oakwood Mega Kuningan, because they're now serving a various kinda meal in affordable price. A combo you just can't miss. Just a couple days before entering the fasting month, my friend Swasti took me and Nika to undergo the place.

"It's not just a supermarket," that's my first impression of the place since in its terrace you could find many lines of tables with an orange-colored chair. The lines were'nt full at the time due to the end of lunch time, but i'm sure if we arrived at 12-ish, the condition would be different. When you enter the supermarket, then you'll find a magazine rack on your left and next to it there were the fridges for the food that you can choose to be cooked for your meal. The prepared foods consist of many kinds such as barbeque or grilled one (ranging from chicken, meat, lamb, ribs, seafood), selection of pastas, salads, and some local food like Soto, Nasi Goreng Kampung, Oxtail Soup, etc. You can also choose three choices of dishes with rice for only IDR2 25.000.

And the best thing of the place iiiis.. You can pick your own drink from the supermarket and pay as the price stated. I picked a 500 ml of Nestle Pure Life for only IDR 1.100 to accompany my IDR 28.000 boneless grilled chicken with barbeque sauce with belgian french fries as my side dish. Isn't it great? You can savor the superb meal in the decent yet clean table that the Ranch Market has provided.

Sebuah perayaan akan gaya untuk semua, menghasilkan sebuah hasil kolaborasi yang tak hanya bernilai seni namun juga akan meraup penjualan tinggi. Sambut karya Rei Kawakubo, desainer Comme des Garcons yang November nanti akan merilis rancangan khususnya untuk ritel raksasa H&M.

Tak begitu berbeda dengan rancangan biasanya, Rei tetap akan menghadirkan pakaian siluet asimetris dan geometris khas CDG. Mengintip visual-visual koleksi kolaborasinya itu, saya merasa lebih bersemangat menyambut jajaran sandang yang Ia buat untuk wanita. Koleksi untuk pria terlihat lebih aman dan terlalu mungkin terlalu aneh sampai anda mungkin akan mengernyitkan dahi.

Namun inilah fesyen. Semua kembali pada selera. Sesuatu yang saya suka belum tentu anda suka, jika anda mau menunggu, sebuah perayaan selanjutnya akan tiba dan mungkin lebih menyamankan mata anda.

Cork&Screw, Rustique: Such A Culinary Experience!

There are times when i want to dressed my self up and go to the fancy restaurants to have a slice of juicy steaks and a sip of wine. After strolled to the Padangnese vibrant eatery some times before, last weekend i chose to taste another part of Jakarta and sit gracefully on Cork&Screw and Rustique.
Cork& Screw which located in Wisma Kodel, Kuningan is a complete package of resto, bar, lounge, and wine store. My personal favorites from this place are the food (turns out that this place has a collaboration with Koi Resto, my favorite European resto), the atmosphere (the place has a low dimmed lighting, which reminds me of native restaurants), and the music background (it's chilled jazz, ambiance music, kinds of music which will make you stay all through the night). That night, with the sound of Mondogrosso, my favorite Japanese Jazz artist, i chose Asian Cuisine which is served by rice. I picked the Asian Black Pepper Beef Steak. The portion is quite big and the pepper wasn't quite strong but the taste still remained thick. I enjoyed my meal with Moscato d'Asti. This is a classic sweet Piedmont wine obtained from the soft pressing of Moscato Bianco grapes cultivated in the restricted area distinguished by the denomination of controlled and guaranteed origin. It has a pale straw yellow color, intense fruity perfume and a sweet, pleasantly and harmonious flavor. Moscato d'Asti should be served at temperature of about 9/10, traditionally in a goblet, but current trends seem to prefer a flute glass. I personally prefer white wine to red wine, and my friend's choice for wine was right. It tasted really good combined with my spicy food.

After visiting Cork&Screw on saturday, the next day, i went to have some steak at Rustique which located in Plaza Senayan on 4th floor. I believe that steak is better enjoyed for dinner. Maybe is just a state of mind because so far i haven't found the connection between food and the time you consumed it. Honestly, i picked this place because i just recently read the review for that restaurant in a local magazine. Rustique is famous for its specialty for serving the dry-aged beef for the steak. Dry aging occurs while the beef is hanging in a refrigerated cooler, at a specific temperature and humidity, for 10 to 28 days after harvest and prior to cutting. When beef is dry aged two things happen. First, moisture evaporates from the muscle creating a greater concentration of beefy flavor and taste. Secondly, the beef’s natural enzymes break down the fibrous, connective tissue in the muscle, tenderizing it. Most of the tenderizing activity occurs in the the first 10 to 14 days. So the meat will be so soft but still juicy when you chew. That night, i chose a 200 gr dry-aged Rib Eye Australian Beef with mushroom sauce and grill mix vegetables for the side dish. I requested the meat to be 3/4 cooked. I can say that this might be the best steak i have ever had. I can easily slice the meat and i don't need any effort to chew. The best part came when i chew the meat, the fat that sticks to the meat was firmly melt and it add the juicy of the steak itself. Yummy. For the drinks, i prefer a mocktail called Rustique Mocktail which consisted of lychee sorbet and mango juice.

As a wrap, i'd like to say that i will definitely go back there again. Because i love how they give me such experience in culinary with their best place and most exactly BEST FOOD!

Food Fiesta: Nasi Kapau Kramat!

Are you a fan of Padangnese food? Or you don't know what it is? Just spend your time in Kramat Road and test the food! I bet you will be a loyal fan. This is such an experience!

I always love to eat in a place with such vibrant atmosphere. Before i visited this place, i was going to 1001 malam seafood in Kelapa Gading, East Jakarta. They served not only the most delicious dishes, but the atmosphere is hectic yet hot but those were the thrill. And Nasi Kapau Kramat provides u with the similar escapade.

This is a hawker eatery, located in Kramat Road. From Kwitang you turn right in the Senen Intersection, and the place is right on the left. Park your car in the side of the street and start to eat. There are many kiosks that offer you the Nasi Kapau, but my personal favorite is the Sabana Asli.

The specialty of these places compare with other Padangnese Restaurant is that they serve the authentic Padangnese Menus like Itiak Cabai Hijau (It's the duck which cooked with the green chili) and Bubur Kampiun (a sweet porridge dessert). The taste are GOOD, and the price is just right. I spent Rp. 17.000 (2 USD) for a portion of Nasi Kapau which consist of rice, roasted chicken, vegetable and a glass of ice tea.

I don't know how exactly how they make it, but i really wanna learn how! This season most exciting trend (at least for me) is the bead.

I've found Nylon magazine did this trend and i'm crazy with everything in it, but guess what, i looked up on my own treasure and i get these pieces. They are all made in Indonesia. hoho. The necklace is from Pontianak, West Borneo. The Earing is from Parta Porte, Bandung, West Java. And the cuff is from Yogyakarta.

I Want This: Tom Binns Fall 08 Necklace

This time i prefer a bold black jewels to the crazy colorful one. One of my favorite come from the Irish born jewelery designer, Tom Binns. For the fall 2008 collection, he released this gorgeous edgy punk-y black dangling necklace. Well Topshop once had this look-a-like, but it was made from plastic. So it won't last. So salute to Binns. I'll always consign my appreciation to this designer, who once said:

"Jewelry is always a treasure, and though it may not be made of gold and diamonds, it should still have that sentiment,"

Bribe The Tribe

It's time to make a tribute to the tribe!!

When i see all of those pattern on the Spring/Summer 2008 runway, i feel excited yet upset at the same time. Excited because i personally love the trend, but upset because many of the patterns are originally from Indonesia, but they (read: the industry nor the designer) seemed to not appreciate it.

They use the term "ikat" and "batik" to describe the pattern, while those are the crafts that have been produced for a long time here in Indonesia.

Well apart from that, these are my personal favorite:

I totally agree with this idea! War happens because there is someone who feels smarter than others, feels stronger than others and feels right when others seemed so wrong. In zero position there isn't anybody who played the role as a superior or inferior. As we stand side by side, appreciate and help each other to make Indonesia and the world a better place.

In my humble opinion, i guess these leaders who featured in Coldplay's other version video of Violet Hill, should reconsider their position and be in the "Zero".

This video (which was titled "The Dancing Politician) is banned to be released publicly due to the contents that implied critics to few politicians of the world.

I love to look good, and so does everyone else, including u. The quote above might be a solution for those of you who wants to look good on your holiday but definitely don't wanna carry all of the things on your closet.

My personal theme for this year holiday: Hippie.

I know it's not original, it might be everywhere as well, but for me it's not the originality that counts, but the simplicity, the perfection for the weather and yet easy to pull off.
You can create any hippie style with your favorite jeans, pants, shorts, minis.

My key items for the style are:
wide leg jeans, white cotton dress, loose t-shirts, tunic, fringe bag, beaded sandals, lots of accessories (bangles, beaded necklaces, headbands, scarfs, rings). Just pair them up, create lots of mixes!

When Weezer Sing Japanese

If Indonesia have a person like Cinta Laura, the most talked and mocked, teenage artist because of her bad pronunciation of Bahasa, then maybe Weezer might get the same reaction from the Japanese.

Weezer has covered the BoA's ballad song called Meri-Kuri. The song can be found as a bonus track in Weezer latest album "The Red Album", the Japanese Version which is due released last wednesday. The Red Album is Weezer's sixth album.
I personally dislike this cover version because it's so not Weezer, and Rivers Cuomo sings Japanese so badly. It sounds very karaoke-ish, borrowing Simon Cowell's favorite line. The reason why Weezer picked the BoA's song its because it was suggested by Kyoko Ito, Rivers Cuomo's wife (They got married in 2006), who's Japanese. And by the first time he heard it, he was instantly taken by the song. Well the original song itself has been voted as the best winter song ever in Japan. So i guess Meri-Kuri is quite a popular song indeed.
But, as a wrap, considered that Japanese people also speak English badly, i guess, it's turns out ok.

She & Him: the new sound of The Carpenters

As stated in their personal web, "She & Him made their debut record as a love letter to the musicians who inspired it. Volume One (Merge Records) introduces a boy and girl choir hell-bent on making music the old-fashioned way: by hand - and with as few machines as humanly possible"

Yes, the band's consist of a boy name M. Ward, a renowned one man band, and the quirky yet beautiful, Zooey Deschanel. They began their music adventure in 2006. and now, they are releasing their debut album. There are 13 songs which sounded very easy listening, native american style. What i mean with native american style is these songs reminisce the simple, folky american neighborhood kinda songs. You won't find any guitar distortion or multi tempo drum sound. Just a classic guitar accompanied by the sweet voice of deschanel's.
When i hear the playlist of the album, i directly associate the sounds with some American classic 70's or 90's movie. Yet i believe that the songs would be a great soundtrack for movies like Juno or 50's first date too.
My personal favourites are: This Is Not A Test, Sentimental Hearts, and I Thought I Saw Your Face Today.

I'm now more into calvin klein-esque style so i prefer to wear some classic pieces in classic colour but has some edgy touch to it. Just like this fantastic piece from ksubi.

Maybe i'm just too excited with my new blog. I just can stop posting. But what i do know is i love this ksubi jeans. i want it.

My Latest Food Fiesta

Well i love to taste new food, so whenever somebody tells me about new food or drink i guess they are worth to try! Like the one i just tasted.

It is called Kwetiaw Akang. It's located in Central of Jakarta, Sawah besar to be precised. And i gotta tell you, that the food there was awsome. I think that was the best kwetiaw (kwetiaw=rice noodle) i have ever tasted. It's chineese style kinda way. They have quite complete selection of kwetiaw, noodle or bihun (or some people called it beehoon). So whether you like it dry or gravy, they'll have it at your service.

DO judge people by their shoe!

That's the thing that my friends always said to me. Especially fika!!! hehehe. Hi there!!. Yap, that's me. Mostly, I noticed people not from top to the bottom but from bottom to the top. Why? Because for me, shoe is the key. I once walked in orchard road and if my mom didn't remind me to look straight ahead, i 'll kept look down noticing people's shoe and i would have been hit somebody. Thanks mom (you know your daughter quite well :p)

No matter how cool your outfit is, if you didn't combine with perfect shoe, it's not good enough. But wait, "the perfect shoe" doesn't mean expensive shoe. I'm not that branded shoe lover kind of person either. "Perfect shoe" could be just simple shoe but it matched perfectly to the outfit. For example, my dear friend marsha, she once wear an embroideried white shirt with cardigan and yellow loose skirt. For the shoe, she picked white canvas shoe that you could grab for only 30 thousand in mayestik. It's cool!! i prefer that way to somekind of girl i met in some mall who wear dior, gucci, prada shoe but they couldn't match the dress.

Meanwhile, i have to admit that i'm a shoe addict. So no wonder if then noticed people also from their shoe. I could recognize people, specially boys, from their shoe. In my opinion, there are 3 kind of boys :

1. THE CONSERVATIVE TYPE : boys in this type would wear pantofel, leather sandals, sport slip sandal and anykind of wellknown comfortable shoe. And just like their shoe, boys in this type, is a conservative, he might prefer being at home, or he is obliged to be at home haha. He didn't like to be the center of attention. But they're loving and caring person.

2. THE "Todays Boys" : boys in this type would wear todays shoe like adidas, puma, pony, onitzukatiger, converse, nike, rhumell, gola, le coq sport, vans. They would wear the latest shoe of the brand i've mentioned above. For them, the latest is the coolest. They would combine the shoe, with "masa kini" style, like polo shirt, stripe shirt, or unique but mostly branded t-shirt. Boys in this type are boys who like to be the center of attention, they know what the lattest trend is, they are easygoing, they prefer to hang with friends than stay at home, friendly (but sometimes picky for friends), and for them recognition from people in their community is important and neccessary.

3. THE "I DON'T CARE WHAT OTHER PEOPLE THINK, THIS IS ME" type: boys in this type wear todays branded shoe, BUT, they don't wear the latest. For them attitude is the most important. So since attitude is important, they also like to wear non branded but stylish and cheap kind of shoe. The point is, they mix style with attitude. So gembel converse, or dirty vans are fine for them. They like comfortability too. This kind of boys are, independent, creative, friendly but sometimes lonely person. They like to hangout with friends too, but when they think it's too much, they will do other thing, like going home. They also trend aware but they know which one is ok and which is not.

Well, that's just my opinion. DO you agree with me? or do you want to add things.. Feel free to tell me.

But back to the first paragraph, branded shoe is not so important. So as long as that person, boy or girl could match the outfit fit the shoe perfectly.. I'll love it. . But anyway, it's not that important to be loved by me as well, rite?

haii.. well this isn't my first blog. I decided to move my old blog lolitasland.multiply.com to my latest blog here because i feel like blogspot is even better than multiply but dunno..
